HETAUDA: The Nepali Congress parliamentary party of Bagmati Province is holding a crucial meeting today (Tuesday) in Hetauda at 10 AM.
The meeting will discuss the no-confidence motion filed against Bahadur Singh Lama, the party’s parliamentary leader and Chief Minister of Bagmati Province.
Last Friday, 21 provincial lawmakers from the Nepali Congress registered the no-confidence motion to remove Lama from the party leadership.
The Bagmati Provincial Assembly has 37 Congress members, and at least 19 votes are required to change the parliamentary leader.
Following the registration of the motion, Chief Minister Lama must now prove that he still holds the majority support, as per party rules.
The no-confidence motion was filed under the leadership of provincial lawmaker Indra Bahadur Baniya, who also serves as the President of the Congress Bagmati Province Committee.
