KATHMANDU: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has said Nepal’s upcoming graduation from the Least Developed Country (LDC) category to a developing nation marks the beginning of the vision “Prosperous Nepal, Happy Nepali.”

Speaking in the National Assembly on Wednesday, Oli highlighted that Nepal, after 55 years on the LDC list, will graduate alongside seven other countries next year. He said this shift reflects Nepal’s progress toward self-reliance, stronger economic indicators, and a more favorable investment climate.

Oli credited the success to the long-term targets of the 15th and ongoing 16th national plans, focused on social justice, good governance, and prosperity. He noted that the graduation opens doors for increased bilateral and multilateral support and investment.

Calling for political unity beyond elections, Oli urged all parties to set aside rivalry and work together on development efforts.

“Let’s compete during elections but collaborate for national progress the rest of the time,” he said. Joint development efforts, he added, are key to boosting productivity, building a strong economy, and gaining the trust of both citizens and the private sector.

Oli also praised the quality and discipline of the National Assembly’s debate on the matter.
