POKHARA: Nepali Congress central committee member and Foreign Minister Dr. Arzu Rana Deuba has said that personal ambitions should not be allowed to create misunderstandings within the party organization.
Addressing a party gathering organized by the Nepali Congress Kaski in Pokhara, she emphasized that internal competition is healthy, but it must not lead to division within the party.
She remarked, “The party is not a platform to fulfill personal ambitions. It is a space to serve the nation and society.”
Highlighting the invaluable contributions of founding leaders such as BP Koirala, Ganesh Man Singh, and Krishna Prasad Bhattarai, Rana stressed the importance of following their guiding principles. “It is crucial that we move forward with their guidance in mind. If each of us focuses on how our words and actions can strengthen the party, we will collectively make it stronger,” she said.
Looking ahead to the party’s upcoming 15th General Convention, she expressed confidence that internal competition could strengthen the party — but only if no one is sidelined and unity is maintained.
Dr. Deuba also noted that new political parties are effectively using social media and said Nepali Congress must also utilize it in a positive and energetic way to connect with the public.
She warned against the spread of negativity, saying that efforts are being made to promote the narrative that “nothing is happening in the country.” In response, she urged youth to resist the trend of migration and instead contribute to building the nation with a message of positivity.
Gandaki Province Nepali Congress President Shukraraj Sharma echoed her sentiments, stating that the party must remain committed to its foundational values of nationalism, democracy, and socialism. He said unity is essential and factionalism must be avoided.
Kaski District President Kishor Dutta Baral also emphasized that the Nepali Congress is a party capable of overcoming any national challenge and moving forward with strength.
