BIRATNAGAR: Madhav Kumar Nepal, chairman of the CPN (Unified Socialist), has suggested that senior party leader Jhala Nath Khanal should take leave from the party for speaking against party policy.

On Friday in Biratnagar, during a discussion on Khanal’s remarks that splitting the UML was a mistake, Chairman Nepal recommended that Khanal step aside on moral grounds.

He stated that Khanal’s repeated refusal to follow institutional party decisions renders his statements meaningless.

Responding to another question, Nepal expressed that since the constitution and law do not bar the former president and vice president from re-entering politics, their decisions are personal matters.

Chairman Nepal also said that as long as Sher Bahadur Deuba and KP Sharma Oli remain united, the formation of an alternative government is unlikely. He acknowledged the current government’s failure in various sectors but ruled out the possibility of a new government soon.

He added that the party is currently focused on strengthening its organization and activating the Socialist Front.

Nepal clarified there are no plans to merge with the Maoist Centre, emphasizing cooperation and joint efforts with the front instead.
