KATHMANDU: Nepal registered its first victory in the SAFF U-17 Women’s Championship with a comeback win over hosts Bhutan.

In the match held on Friday at Changlimithang Stadium in Thimphu, Nepal defeated Bhutan 2–1. This marked Nepal’s first win in the tournament after suffering a 7–0 loss to India in the opening game.

Both goals for Nepal came in the second half from Sahara Limbu. Earlier, Bhutan had taken a 1–0 lead in the first half through a goal from Shegel. However, Bhutan failed to extend their advantage as Nepal staged a strong comeback.

With this victory, Nepal has collected three points from two matches, while Bhutan suffered their second consecutive defeat. Bhutan had earlier lost 3–1 to Bangladesh.

The tournament features three teams—hosts Bhutan, Nepal, and Bangladesh. Each team will play two matches against the others, and the team topping the standings will be crowned champions.

Nepal’s upcoming matches are against Bangladesh on August 24 and 27, and against Bhutan on August 31.

The team will also face India again on August 29.
