KATHMANDU: The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) index witnessed a slight improvement today, rising by 4.83 points to settle at 2,766.09. According to NEPSE, a total of 9,243,232 shares from 322 companies were traded in 45,116 transactions, amounting to a total turnover of NPR 4.18 billion (Rs 4,185,315,734).
In today’s trading session, the sub-indices for investment (-0.10%), manufacturing and processing (-0.68%), microfinance (-0.48%), and non-life insurance (-0.10%) declined, while all other sector indices registered gains. The banking sector rose by 0.14%, development banks by 0.96%, finance by 0.12%, hotels and tourism by 0.17%, hydropower by 0.07%, and life insurance by 0.06%. Similarly, mutual funds increased by 0.13%, trading by 0.11%, and the “others” group saw the highest gain of 1.42%.
Among individual stocks, Bikash Hydropower Company Limited hit the positive circuit breaker today. On the other hand, Kumari Sabal Yojana recorded the highest loss, with its share price dropping by 3.66%.
In terms of transaction value, Nepal Reinsurance Company Limited led the market with a turnover of NPR 489.57 million. Meanwhile, the highest number of shares traded was of Himalayan 80–20, with 652,082 units changing hands.
