KATHMANDU: The Department of Transport Management (DoTM) has clarified that no fines will be imposed on vehicles failing to install embossed number plates by September 17.
In a press release issued Tuesday, the DoTM urged the public not to be misled by rumors suggesting that strict penalties or immediate action would follow the deadline.
The department stated that embossed number plates will be installed gradually across all government, private, and public vehicles.
“There is a misconception that fines or immediate action will be taken if the plates are not installed by September 17, 2025. We clarify that no fines will be imposed immediately,” the release said.
Vehicle owners have been encouraged to voluntarily install embossed number plates at their respective transport offices, at a time convenient for them, and to support the government’s ongoing digitalization drive.
