Two dead, one critically injured in Jhapa road accident

JHAPA: Two people died and one person was critically injured in a road accident that occurred today along an inner road section at Tulsibari in Kankai Municipality-5, Jhapa.

According to the District Police Office, the casualties occurred when a motorcycle (Me 4 Pa 585) heading towards Jhapa Bazar from Surunga collided with a tractor (Me 1 Ta 7404) that was entering the road after plowing a field.

Motorcycle rider 20-year-old Samir Ali of Jhapa Rural Municipality-3, his 45-year-old mother Nuresh Sadevi, and Samir’s 5-year-old daughter Hajira Khatun were injured in the accident.

They were rushed to Kankai Hospital in Surunga for treatment, where doctors declared Samir Ali and Hajira Khatun dead upon arrival.

The critically injured Nuresh Sadevi has been taken to B&C Hospital in Birtamod for further medical care.

Meanwhile, police have taken the tractor driver, 46-year-old Chakra Bahadur Tamang of Kankai Municipality-5, into custody.
