KATHMANDU: Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) has issued a notice reopening applications for Grade 11 and 12 scholarships for the academic session 2026/27.

The metropolis has informed candidates who were not nominated in the first and second scholarship lists, but wish to be included in the final nomination (wrap-up) round, to select their preferred subjects and teaching institutions via the online form.

Namaraj Dhakal, Coordinator of the Examination Committee and Education Officer, informed that out of the 4,857 total slots allocated across 145 teaching institutions within the metropolis for this year, 3,281 students have already been selected—3,051 from the first nomination list and 230 from the second list.

The current opportunity allows students to choose their preferred subjects and institutions for the remaining 1,576 vacant slots.

The notice for the final “wrap-up” matching has been published to fill the remaining institutional and subject-wise seats, based on updated enrollment data provided by institutional schools under the metropolis within the given deadline.

The application portal opened today (Thursday) at 10:00 AM.

Applications must be submitted by 5:00 PM on June 22.

Just like before, applicants can log into entrance.metronepal.gov.np (referenced as entrance.gov.np) using their symbol number, alphabet, date of birth, and password (received via email/mobile).

They can then select one subject they wish to study (they are allowed to change from their previously selected subject) and list their preferred teaching institutions with vacant seats in order of priority to re-apply.

Candidates can choose their preferred subjects and institutions only after verifying the vacant seats at the respective colleges.

The final wrap-up matching will be conducted strictly based on the students’ overall merit list within each subject.

Previously, 3,051 students were enrolled under the scholarship quota from the first matching list of the Kathmandu Metropolitan City scholarship selection exam. There were initially 3,735 students included in the first nomination list (matching list) from the final merit list published after the selection exam.

These students were given until June 10 to complete their enrollment.

Among those enrolled from the first list, 1,901 students were admitted into the Science stream, 1,111 in Management, 34 in Law, and 5 in Humanities.

After these enrollment details were updated in the system, the examination committee published a second matching list containing 486 names for the remaining vacant seats.

According to Ramchandra Khadka, Education Officer and Member Secretary of the Examination Committee, the second list recommended 323 students for Science, 145 for Management, 15 for Law, 1 for Humanities, and 2 for Education.

Out of these, 230 students successfully completed their enrollment.

The scholarship selection examination was held on June 10. The preliminary merit list was published on June 1, and the final list was published on June 4.

A period from June 1 to June 3 was provided for re-totalling and correcting details, during which 331 candidates applied for re-totalling.

Among these, the OMR answer sheets were cross-checked using both computer systems and manual methods.
