DHORPATAN: A concrete bridge over the Kathekhola River at Dudiya has ended decades-long monsoon travel disruptions, ensuring year-round road access in the area.
The 20-meter-long and 8.4-meter-wide bridge connects Bhimapokhara (Ward No. 2) and Tangram (Ward No. 4) of Kathekhola Rural Municipality and was built with investment from the Gandaki Province Government.
According to the Infrastructure Development Office in Baglung, the project cost Rs 36.22 million and was completed about a month ago after the contract was signed in late 2023.
Local officials said the bridge now ensures uninterrupted transportation for multiple wards of Kathekhola Rural Municipality as well as nearby areas in Myagdi and Tarakhola Rural Municipality.
Previously, the lack of a permanent bridge forced road closures during the monsoon, disrupting travel and affecting the transport of agricultural goods and essential supplies.
With the new structure in operation, authorities say year-round connectivity has finally been secured for thousands of residents in the region.
