CHITWAN: Domestic tourist arrivals at Chitwan National Park have increased significantly following the government’s decision to implement a two-day weekend system.

According to National Park Office, internal visitor numbers have risen sharply after the executive decision made on April 6, 2026.

By mid-June in the current fiscal year, 48,598 domestic tourists had visited the park, compared to 31,577 during the same period last year.

Visitors enter the park through eight designated entry points, with 72 licensed jeeps operating to transport tourists for jungle safaris and guided tours. Jeep safaris and jungle walks remain the most popular activities among visitors.

Chitwan National Park is a major attraction for domestic tourists, offering opportunities to observe wildlife such as one-horned rhinoceros, Royal Bengal tigers, bears, leopards, gharial crocodiles, and various bird species.
