Judicial Council appoints six district judges

KATHMANDU: The Judicial Council has appointed six new district judges.

According to Information Officer Suman Pandey, the council’s meeting on Tuesday decided on the appointments.

The newly appointed judges are Gokul Bahadur Niraula, Arun Kumar Koirala, Kul Prasad Dahal, Surya Prasad Bhandari, Anupama Panta, and Bishwadeep Besra.

Niraula was serving as Joint Attorney at the Kathmandu District Government Attorney’s Office, Koirala as Deputy Registrar at the Administrative Court, Dahal as Registrar at the Rolpa District Court, Bhandari as Bench Officer at the Supreme Court, Panta as Deputy Registrar at the Supreme Court, and Besra as Under Secretary at the Ministry of Law.

With the appointments, their postings have also been finalized.

Niraula has been assigned to Kailali District Court, Koirala to Dadeldhura District Court, Dahal to Kalikot District Court, Bhandari to Kanchanpur District Court, Panta to Dhanusha District Court, and Besra to Rautahat District Court.

Similarly, the council has decided to deploy election officers for the upcoming by-elections.

Judge Ashok Kumar Basnet of Rupandehi District Court has been assigned as election officer for Rupandehi Constituency No. 3.

Likewise, Judge Lalkaji Shrestha of Manang District Court has been appointed for the provincial by-elections in Manang 1(b) constituency under the Gandaki Province Assembly.
