KATHMANDU: The Ministry of Finance has appointed Chartered Accountant Surendra Paudel, of Barahchhetra Municipality–7, Sunsari, as chairman of government-owned Nepal Re-Insurance.

His appointment follows controversy over former chairman Devaraj Dhungana, who held a dual post as Executive Director of the Security Printing Press and drew benefits from both positions.

Paudel previously served as Executive Director of Nepal Oil Corporation and General Manager of Udayapur Cement Industry. During his two-year tenure at Udayapur Cement, he turned the company profitable for the first time in 25 years.
