KATHMANDU: India’s Chief Justice Bhushan Ramkrishna Gavai, visiting Nepal for the Nepal-India Judicial Dialogue, called for closer cooperation between the judicial systems of the two countries.
Gavai said courts are not only interpreters of the law but also guardians of democracy and the constitution. He added that some Nepali court judgments are referenced in India, highlighting the importance of mutual learning.
During his visit, Gavai offered prayers at Pashupatinath Temple in the morning and later visited Boudhanath. In the afternoon, he and his eight-member delegation attended a program at Hotel Yak & Yeti, and yesterday evening participated in a welcome ceremony at the Indian Embassy in Lainchaur. Invited by Chief Justice Prakash Man Singh Raut, Gavai is scheduled to visit Lumbini tomorrow before returning to India on Sunday
