12 highways completely blocked, 160 partially operational due to floods and landslides

KATHMANDU: The Department of Roads has reported that 12 highways across the country are completely obstructed while 160 others are operating only on a single lane due to floods and landslides.

According to the Department, the Thori–Bhandara–Malehku and Galchi–Trishuli–Betrabati–Mailung–Syafrubesi–Rasuwagadhi road sections have been blocked.

Similarly, the Jamunaha–Nepalgunj–Kohalpur–Surkhet–Khulalu–Hilsa section of the Karnali Highway is also impassable.

The Rani–Biratnagar–Itahari–Dharan–Dhankuta–Hile section and the Leghuwaghat–Tumlingtar–Khandbari–Num–Kimathanka section of the Koshi Highway are fully blocked as well.

A diversion has been swept away, and the Chatara–Mulghat–Majhitar–Amarpur Danda–Ganeshchowk section of the Tamor Corridor is also closed.

Likewise, the Chhinchu–Kudu–Jajarkot–Dunai–Dho–Tinje–Marim (Bheri Corridor) has been blocked, along with the Koilabas–Lamahi and Arjunkhola–Ghorahi–Holeri–Gharti Gaun–Thawang–Lukam (Shahid Marg) sections.

The Surkhet–Lower Dungeshwor–Satakhamba–Dullu–Pipalkot–Khulalu–Manma–Nagma–Jumla road is also obstructed.

Furthermore, due to ongoing road construction works, the Kathmandu–Dhulikhel–Dolalghat–Khadi Chaur–Kodari section of the Araniko Highway remains closed.

Meanwhile, Bhimarjun Adhikari, spokesperson for the Ministry of Physical Infrastructure and Transport, said that efforts are underway to reopen all obstructed highways across the country as soon as possible.
