KATHMANDU: The Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI) has expressed deep sorrow over the loss of lives and property during the Gen-Z–led nationwide protests.
The federation offered condolences to those who lost their lives and wished for the speedy recovery of the injured.
FNCCI urged the Government of Nepal, political parties, and all stakeholders to be sensitive toward the concerns raised by the younger generation, including issues of decent employment, self-employment opportunities, and proper utilization of state revenue.
It also called for avoiding unnecessary use of force in peaceful demonstrations and stressed the need to prevent further frustration and unrest in the country.
According to FNCCI, sustainable and dignified employment with fair wages is only possible if Nepal achieves high economic growth with social justice.
The federation highlighted the importance of reviving economic activities and promoting cooperation and dialogue in order to send a positive message from Nepal, especially during the tourism season.
FNCCI appealed to the government, political parties, and the Gen-Z movement to work together to ensure such incidents do not recur in the future.
It also urged all stakeholders to guarantee citizens’ access to public services, ensure the right to independent professions and businesses, and create a favorable environment for investment and employment promotion.
