KATHMANDU: The Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) has begun clearance of the road debris that has scattered in different parts of the city following the Gen-Z protests.
Chief of Department of Environment of the KMC, Sarita Rai, said that a total of 100 broomer machines, waste management vehicles and waste clearing vehicles have been mobilized to remove the debris.
According to Rai, the workers already cleared debris from Kalimati, Teku, Tripureshwor, Thapathali, Maitighar and Baneshwor areas, and working in some other sites too.
“The cleaning teams have not cleared debris from government offices and private buildings. Only road debris clearance is ongoing,” she added.
A large number of public and private properties was burnt and destroyed in the wake of Gen-Z protests. It could take some more time to remove debris from private and public buildings, and offices.
Meanwhile, the KMC has asked all the stakeholders to manage glass-related and other harmful wastes.
