KATHMANDU: Following the adverse situation created by the Gen-Z protests on September 8 and 9, the operation of public vehicles that was halted across the country will now be resumed.

A meeting of concerned bodies held today at Singha Durbar, chaired by Keshav Kumar Sharma, Secretary at the Ministry of Physical Infrastructure and Transport has decided to operate the public vehicles that were stopped due to nationwide protests.

Senior Vice President Saroj Sitaula of the Nepal National Transport Entrepreneurs Association informed that a decision has been made to operate public conveyances that have been suspended for a week in Kathmandu and various locations due to the demonstrations.

According to him, the meeting has decided to facilitate cargo transport vehicles. As the Dashain, Tihar, and Chhath festivals are coming near, a committee has been formed under the chairmanship of Rajiv Pokharel, the Director General of the Department of Transport Management, comprising transport entrepreneurs, workers, and traffic police, to initiate advance ticket booking for passengers traveling home, Sitaula said.

This committee will hold a meeting soon to open advance ticket booking in coordination and collaboration with the relevant bodies.
