KATHMANDU: The Ministry of Physical Infrastructure and Transport has initiated a discussion on how the transportation could be managed effectively in the wake of approaching festivals.

Ministry Secretary Keshav Kumar Sharma informed that he held discussion with stakeholders on Sunday on how the safe and convenient travel could be ensured to the passengers going out of the Kathmandu Valley for the upcoming Dashain festival.

Even a committee has been formed under the coordination of Director General at Department of Transport Management, Rajib Pokharel. The committee will have members as representative of the Nepal Police- Chief of Kathmandu Valley Traffic Office, Chief of Highway Security Division- and Chair of the Federation of Nepal Transport Entrepreneurs’ Association, among others.

Similarly, it was decided in the discussion that details on loss incurred with damages of the public vehicles would be collected and process forwarded for compensation.

A notice would be issued to ban the transport of looted arms during the protest in the public vehicles and passenger buses.
