KATHMANDU: CPN (Maoist Centre) Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ has appealed to every citizen to unite for national pride and sovereignty to push the country towards the progressive path.

Addressing a virtual meeting of the Asia Province Organization Committee of People’s Progressive Front of the party on Friday, the Maoist Centre Chairman argued that national unity was needed to face the challenges country facing at present.

On the occasion, Prachanda said that the directly-elected presidential election system and fully proportional electoral system should be adopted through the constitution amendment to address the people’s discontents on the form of governance.

As shared by his secretariat, the Maoist Centre Chairman mentioned that the note of dissent on the form of governance and electoral system registered by his party during the constitution making process was more relevant at this time.

During the meeting, Prachanda shared that his party performed a special role by providing a suitable option to address the demands raised during the Gen-Z protests, safeguarding the constitution.
