Nepal announces preliminary squad for AFC Asian Cup 2027 qualifiers

KATHMANDU: Head coach Matt Ross of the Nepal men’s national football team has announced the preliminary squad for the upcoming AFC Asian Cup 2027 qualifiers against Vietnam.

On Sunday, Ross called up 34 players for the training camp, which will begin from Tuesday, according to ANFA spokesperson Suresh Shah.

The squad includes captain and goalkeeper Kiran Kumar Chemjong, forward Anjan Bista, winger Ayush Ghalan, midfielders Erik Bista and Yogesh Gurung, and defenders Ananta Tamang, Abhishek Limbu, and Sanish Shrestha, who are currently playing in the Bangladesh Premier League. Similarly, midfielder Laken Limbu is playing in Cambodia.

ANFA officials said they are in contact with these players.

Nepal will face Vietnam twice – on October 9 at Go Dau Stadium in an away fixture, and on October 14 at Thong Nhat Stadium in Ho Chi Minh City for the designated home match.
