KATHMANDU: Continuous rainfall and landslides have led to the complete blockage of major highways in four locations across Koshi and Bagmati Provinces.
In Koshi Province, two sections of the Koshi Highway in Sankhuwasabha district remain fully obstructed.
The road in Barun, Bhotkhola Rural Municipality–4 has been closed since May, while another section in Ekua, Makalu Rural Municipality–3 has been blocked since early September.
Similarly, Bagmati Province has also been heavily affected by floods and landslides. In Rasuwa district, the vital bridge at Gosainkunda Rural Municipality–2, which connects Nepal and China, has been completely blocked since the flood of July.
Another stretch of the Pasang Lhamu Highway in Gosainkunda Rural Municipality–2 has been closed since October 1 due to landslides.
Authorities, including the Nepal Police, have stated that efforts are underway to clear the debris and restore road connectivity.
