KATHMANDU: Traffic has begun resuming on several key highways, including the Araniko Highway, Charikot–Kathmandu road, and sections of the Prithvi Highway, after landslides disrupted movement over the past few days.

Authorities at the Road Division Office, Bhaktapur, and the District Administration Office, Kathmandu, confirmed that landslides in parts of Kavre, Sindhupalchok, Dhading, Nuwakot, and Makwanpur have been cleared, allowing vehicles to move along these routes.

Vehicles from Sindhupalchok, Dolakha, Kavre, and other districts are now using the Araniko Highway and Charikot road.

Similarly, one-way traffic has been allowed on previously blocked roads connecting Kathmandu with Dhading, Nuwakot, and Hetauda.

Traffic had been halted at multiple points along the Dhulikhel–Khawa and Pakucha sections of the Araniko Highway due to heavy rains and landslides that began Saturday morning.

The administration has urged motorists to exercise caution, follow instructions from deployed security personnel, and adhere to traffic signals while navigating these routes.

With gradual improvement in weather, authorities are accelerating the clearance of landslides and the restoration of road connectivity.

In the first phase, around 100 vehicles stranded at Nagdhunga have been directed toward Dhading, marking the initial step toward normalizing traffic flow.
