KATHMANDU: Narayan Prasad Dahal, the Chairperson of the National Assembly, has voiced his conviction that the Chhath festival will significantly contribute to enhancing social and cultural harmony, as well as fostering national unity.

On the occasion of Chhath festival 2082, he conveyed his warmest wishes for happiness, peace, prosperity, and longevity to all Nepali brothers and sisters, both within the nation and abroad, while expressing this belief. He remarked, “Our country is characterized by its multi-religious, multi-linguistic, multi-cultural, and multi-ethnic nature.

The Constitution guarantees equal rights to various ethnicities, religions, cultures, and communities. Festivals that align with the original cultures of different ethnicities, religions, and communities showcase our diversity.”

He emphasized that the unity found within diversity is the essence of being Nepali. The Chhath festival, which involves the worship of the sun, is recognized as a celebration that forges a bond between nature and human existence. He stated, ‘I sincerely extend my heartfelt wishes with the belief that the Chhath festival, celebrated with faith in the welfare of the family, the happiness of children, and the fulfillment of desires, will motivate all of us to progress along the path of family, community, and overall human welfare.’
