LALITPUR: KIST Hospital in Lalitpur became tense after relatives of a pregnant woman, who died allegedly due to medical negligence, surrounded the facility in protest.

Angered family members broke through police barricades and caused damage to the hospital premises.

Police used tear gas to control the situation, while some officers were also pelted with stones and bricks by the demonstrators.

The woman had died on Saturday during childbirth.

Her relatives have blamed the hospital’s negligence for the fatality and claim that the hospital has yet to engage in dialogue with them.

Yesterday, the family had already caused minor damage to the hospital in a previous protest.
