KATHMANDU: Respected leader of the CPN (Unified Socialist), Jhalanath Khanal, has announced the reorganization of the party.

The announcement came after Friday’s Central Committee meeting endorsed, by a majority, the proposal presented by party chair Madhav Kumar Nepal to unite with the CPN (Maoist Centre) and other parties.

Leader Khanal accused Chairman Nepal of “dissolving” the party that was originally formed after splitting from the UML, by now merging it into the Maoist Centre.

His statement led to commotion inside the meeting hall.

After insisting on speaking during the meeting, Khanal walked out of the hall, saying the meeting was abruptly ended without allowing him to speak.

He accused Chairman Nepal of exhibiting dictatorial behavior by cutting off his microphone.

“Comrade Madhav’s journey has ended—from rebellion to dissolution,” Khanal remarked, adding, “We will reorganize the CPN (Unified Socialist) together with like-minded comrades. If that’s not possible, we will form a new party.”

Amid the dispute, the unity proposal advanced by Chairman Nepal’s faction was passed.
