NEPSE Index Drops 27.64 Points, Market Turnover Falls

The Nepali share market continued its downward trend on Tuesday as the NEPSE index fell by 27.64 points, closing at 2,595.24. This follows Monday’s decline of 8.24 points. The Sensitive index fell by 3.93 points, the Float index by 1.91 points, and the Sensitive Float index by 1.30 points. Trading involved 322 companies, with a total of 10.34 million shares exchanged, valued at approximately Rs 5.16 billion, down from Monday’s Rs 6.05 billion.

Total Deposits in Banks Reach Rs 74.75 Trillion

The total deposits in banks and financial institutions have reached Rs 74 trillion 75 billion, according to Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB). The central bank stated that deposits have been increasing in recent times. As of the first week of November, commercial banks alone have collected Rs 67 trillion 17 billion in deposits. During this same period, banks and financial institutions have extended Rs 56 trillion 35 billion in loans. Among them, commercial banks alone have disbursed Rs 50 trillion 12 billion in credit.

Rs 4 Billion Insurance Claims Filed After Floods and Landslides

Floods and landslides since October 4 have led to insurance claims worth nearly Rs 4 billion. The Insurance Board reported that around Rs 4.78 billion in claims were filed for flood damages. A total of 734 claims were submitted to 13 general insurance companies and 2 micro-insurance firms, with estimated claims totaling Rs 3.78 billion.

Minister Ghisings Pledges Government Commitment to Electrifying Transport and Kitchens

Minister for Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation, Kulman Ghising, has stated that the government is serious about electrifying transport and kitchen systems across the country. Addressing the 29th anniversary of the Alternative Energy Promotion Centre (AEPC) today, Minister Ghising acknowledged that while some progress has been made, much work remains. He highlighted the increasing use of electric vehicles and the need to replace gas used in kitchens with induction or other alternative energy sources, emphasizing that further efforts are needed to promote these technologies.

Midway Solution Reached in Dedicated and Trunk Line Dispute

A meeting between Prime Minister Sushila Karki, Finance Minister Rameshwor Khanal, Energy Minister Kulman Ghising, Industry Minister Anil Sinha, Chief Secretary Ek Narayan Aryal, and FNCCI President Chandra Prasad Dhakal agreed on a middle-ground proposal to resolve the dedicated and trunk line dispute. It was agreed that one installment equivalent to the disputed amount would be accepted as a security deposit, not as payment, and power connections would be restored immediately. Industries can pursue review and legal remedies afterward.

Government Secures €50 Million and $175 Million in Aid Post Gen Z Movement

In the one and a half months since the Gen-Z movement, the government has secured €50 million and $175 million in aid from bilateral and multilateral donors. According to the Finance Ministry, some are new commitments while most are previously pledged funds. Finance Minister Rameshwor Khanal coordinated actively with donors such as the World Bank, ADB, EU, USA, and Germany, reviving stalled commitments amid political uncertainty.

Four Industries Pay First Installment of Premium Charges

Four industries have paid the first installment of their outstanding premium charges under the dedicated and trunk line dispute. In the Bhairahawa area, Panchakanya Plastic Industries, Panchakanya Steel Industries, Siddhartha Pet Plant, and Shyam Plastic paid their first installment on Monday. After the payment, the Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) reconnected the previously disconnected power lines.

NRB Transfers Responsibilities of 11 Executive Directors

The Nepal Rastra Bank has reshuffled the departmental responsibilities of 11 executive directors. Rewati Prasad Nepal, previously heading the Foreign Management Department, will now lead the Asset and Service Management Department. Similarly, Ramu Paudel has been transferred from the Currency Management Department to the Bank and Financial Institution Regulation Department. Bishrut Thapa has been moved to the Financial Institution Supervision Department, while Dayaram Sharma has been assigned to the Governor’s Office.

Malaysia Seeks Manpower Companies Meeting 10 New Criteria

The Ministry of Labour, Employment and Social Security has sought official opinions from manpower agencies regarding 10 new standards set by the Malaysian government. The ministry sent a letter to the Nepal Association of Foreign Employment Agencies asking for its stance. Malaysia informed that only manpower companies meeting the new uniform criteria — applicable to source countries like Nepal, Bangladesh, India, and Pakistan — will be allowed to send workers.

Dailekh Methane Gas Production Suggested for Nepal Oil Corporation

The government has been advised to hand over the production and distribution of natural methane gas discovered in Jaljale, Dailekh, to the Nepal Oil Corporation. A study team led by NOC Director Binit Mani Upadhyay submitted a report recommending that the corporation oversee production and distribution. The China Geological Survey had found an estimated 112 billion cubic meters of natural methane gas reserves in Bhairavi Rural Municipality, Dailekh, in June 2024.

Ninth JCC Meeting Between NRB and RBI Concludes

The 9th meeting of the Joint Coordination Committee (JCC) between the Nepal Rastra Bank and the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) concluded on Monday. Governor Biswo Nath Poudel said the mechanism has been effective in promoting cross-border cooperation in monetary and financial issues. RBI Executive Director Arnav Kumar Chaudhary highlighted that since its formation, the JCC has facilitated currency management, trade payments, and financial inclusion.

Rs 3.36 Billion Agricultural Exports from Kakarbhitta Quarantine Office

From the Kakarbhitta Quarantine Office under the Plant Quarantine and Pesticide Management Center, agricultural exports worth Rs 3.36 billion were recorded in the first quarter of FY 2025/26. According to Information Officer Chandreshwar Thakur, the major export items were cardamom, tea, plywood, veneer, ginger, and broom grass (amriso). In three months, cardamom exports were worth Rs 1.51 billion, tea Rs 756.6 million, plywood Rs 277.4 million, veneer Rs 272.8 million, and amriso Rs 195.9 million.

Daunne Road Section to Operate One-Way for Two Months

The Daunne section of the East–West Highway in Nawalparasi will operate one-way traffic for two months. The measure is necessary for the construction of culverts alongside the Narayanghat–Butwal road expansion project. According to Nawalpur District Police Office, the Department of Roads issued a notice on Monday informing that one-way operation will continue until construction is complete.

Five Hydropower Projects in a Single Ward of Myagdi

In Annapurna Rural Municipality–4 of Myagdi, five hydropower projects with a combined capacity of 162 MW have been completed. Additionally, one project of 63.3 MW is under construction, and two others totaling 173.14 MW are in the process of development. According to Ward Chair Lok Bahadur Pun, the completed projects include Ghalemdi Khola (5 MW), Mristi Khola (42 MW), Nilgiri–I (38 MW), Nilgiri–II (71 MW), and Rele Khola (6 MW).

Lighting Installation Begins at Bancharedanda Landfill Site

Installation of lighting has begun at the Bancharedanda landfill site for night-time waste management. The Nepal Electricity Authority (Nuwakot Distribution Center) began installing poles on Monday. Once completed, lights will be installed. Minister for Energy, Physical Infrastructure, and Urban Development Kulman Ghising had committed to initiating lighting during his inspection visit on Sunday.

Jute Industry Hit by Shortage of Raw Materials

Nepali jute industries have been affected by the halt in raw jute imports from India and Bangladesh. Due to the shortage, factories have reduced production by up to 20%. Bangladesh imposed an unofficial export ban on raw jute about six weeks ago, citing domestic shortage, while India’s reduced production and rising prices have made imports costly, affecting Nepali exports.

Bindhyabasini Hydropower to Issue 100% Right Shares

Bindhyabasini Hydropower Company has announced plans to issue 100% right shares. The board meeting held on Monday decided to issue right shares at a 1:1 ratio. The proposal is still subject to approval by the Electricity Regulatory Commission and the company’s Annual General Meeting. After the issuance, the company’s paid-up capital will rise from Rs 1.12 billion to Rs 2.24 billion.

Shree Steel’s Trade Volume Rises by 6.69%

Shree Steel reported a 6.69% increase in trade volume in 2025 compared to 2024. The company’s trade rose from Rs 4.99 billion in 2024 to Rs 5.32 billion in 2025. It had reported Rs 7.04 billion in 2023, Rs 6.13 billion in 2022, and Rs 7.46 billion in 2021.

Hulas Finserv’s Income Up by 79%

Hulas Finserv Hire Purchase Limited, which plans to issue an IPO through book building, has reported a 78.75% increase in income in 2025 compared to 2024. The company’s earnings rose from Rs 532 million in 2024 to Rs 951 million in 2025. In comparison, it earned Rs 488 million in 2023, Rs 521 million in 2022, and Rs 613 million in 2021.

Gold Price Drops by Rs 1,400 Per Tola

The price of gold fell by Rs 1,400 per tola on Tuesday.
According to the Federation of Nepal Gold and Silver Dealers’ Association, the price of gold has been fixed at Rs 238,300 per tola, compared to Rs 239,700 per tola the previous day. Since mid-October, gold prices have been steadily declining. The price of silver has also decreased by Rs 45 per tola.
