KATHMANDU: The Nepal Red Cross Society, with financial backing from the Chinese Red Cross Society, has built a central warehouse in Bhaktapur. The construction, which cost approximately Rs 120 million, will house vital non-food supplies, including ‘dignity kits’ for women and children, intended for use during emergencies.

Dharma Datt Bidari, Acting Executive Director of the Nepal Red Cross, and Bian Xiao, Vice President of the Chinese Red Cross Society, jointly opened the warehouse on Sunday. Given Nepal’s diverse geography and its vulnerability to earthquakes and other natural disasters, the supplies stored in this facility will play a crucial role in relief efforts. During the inauguration, Bian Xiao remarked, “The Nepal Red Cross Society has been making significant contributions in the realm of humanitarian aid.

Parshuram Pandey, the President of the Bhaktapur District Branch of the Nepal Red Cross Society, expressed his appreciation for the assistance provided by the Chinese Red Cross Society in constructing the warehouse. He also voiced optimism that the Nepal Red Cross would continue to receive support from the Chinese Red Cross Society in disaster management and other sectors in the future. On this occasion, the Chinese Ambassador to Nepal, Wang Xin, along with Hai Liman, the Director of the International Cooperation Department of the Chinese Red Cross Society, and Cai Wennan, the Director of the Disaster Management Department of the Chinese Red Cross Society, were present, along with officials from the Bhaktapur District Branch of the Nepal Red Cross Society and youth volunteers from the Junior and Youth Red Cross Circle.
