KATHMANDU: A new book titled ‘Guilt & Glory: Climbing with Sherpas’ by Norwegian writer Jon Gangdal is now available in the market.

The author, who has worked with Sherpas on various expeditions for the past 35 years, shares his experiences in the book, covering the historical, geographical, social, and lifestyle aspects of the Sherpa community.

Readers interacted with the author whose book runs nearly 600 pages at Vajra Books in Kathmandu, where they asked him questions about the book and his writing journey.

During the discussion, Prasanta Kumar BK said that the book would be valuable for anyone interested in learning about the Sherpa community. He described it as an important document that captures the Sherpas’ social, economic, and historical dimensions.

“This book is a complete document on the Sherpas,” he stated.

The author, Gangdal, said that the Sherpas are the true heroes of the mountains and shared that he has a familial bond with them. Among his 40 published works, this is his second book about Nepal, following Kanchenjunga.

Bidur Dangol, managing director of Vajra Books, expressed confidence that the book will be highly useful, noting that both Nepali and international readers frequently seek out literature on the Sherpas and mountaineering for study and research.
