KATHMANDU: Chairman of the CPN UML, KP Sharma Oli, has expressed belief that the forthcoming 11th general convention of the party would be an event to resonate unity and transformation.

Addressing a programme organized to make public the convention logo at party headquarters, Chyasal on Sunday, Chairman Oli viewed it was wrong to have the thought of making voting mandatory in convention. It is also wrong to make publicity that there would be no atmosphere for competition in the party in the name of consensus, he added.

The Chairman made it clear that he, as the party chief, would be concentrate on consensus, unity, transformation and generational shift. “In the name of consensus, no leader would be blocked from competition,” he said, assuring fair competition.

He urged all not to argue that there is no democracy in UML. There is no point in saying that filing candidacy for election would be blocked, Chairman Oli reminded.

The Chairman further urged all to be united and make positive remarks. “Let’s not belittle each other,” he asked.

The UML is holding its general convention from December 13 to 15 in the federal capital, Kathmandu.
