KATHMANDU: The provincial and district presidents of the Nepali Congress, who support the call for a special general convention, have said that no one can stop the special general convention. Issuing a joint statement on Sunday, 26 district presidents and one provincial president have said that no one can stop the special general convention to be held coming January 12.

Stating that it is unfortunate that a historic and democratic, the Nepali Congress, has not been able to set the agenda for the general convention through the central working committee meeting for one and a half months, they have also objected to the efforts being made to avoid the demand for the special general convention duly registered as per the party statute. A conclusion should be reached soon and start preparing for the elections with renewed energy.

They have also alleged that the CWC meeting has been deliberately prolonging the matter with the mal-intention of closing the door to the possibility of the party’s general convention. The statement calls for the Nepali Congress to go for March 5 general elections with a new leadership and new enthusiasm.

The signatories to the statement include among others, Lumbini Province President Amar Singh Pun, Nawalpur President Mahendra Dhoj GC, Baitadi President Chatur Bahadur Chand, Arghakhanchi President Keshav Shrestha, Dhankuta President Dinesh Rai, Bhojpur President Binod Bantawa, and Terhathum President Arjun Tumbahamphe.
