NPL: Sudurpaschim post 148-run victory target to Biratnagar

KATHMANDU: Sudurpaschim Royals have set a target of 148 runs for Biratnagar Kings in today’s first match under the second edition of the Nepal Premier League (NPL) ongoing at the Tribhuvan University International Cricket Stadium, Kirtipur in the capital.

Sent into batting first after losing the toss, Sudurpaschim scored 147 runs for the loss of five wickets in the allotted 20 overs.

Arif Sheikh scored the highest unbeaten 45 and Ishan Pandey added 38 runs. Biratnagar captain Sandeep Lamichhane took three wickets and Pratish G.C. took two wickets.

Sudurpaschim has remained undefeated, accumulating 12 points from six matches, and has reached the first qualifier. Biratnagar has secured a place in the playoffs with eight points and needs a win today to play in the first qualifier.

Biratnagar will face Sudurpaschim in the first qualifier if able to score a good run rate. Otherwise, they will play the eliminator against Lumbini Lions.

After that, Sudurpaschim and Kathmandu Gorkhas will face each other in the first qualifier. Chitwan Rhinos will meet Pokhara Avengers in the second match today at 3:30pm.
