CHITWAN: Minister for Communications and Information Technology Jagadish Kharel has said that a media training centre plays a vital role in the professional development of journalism.
Inspecting the under-construction central training centre of the Rastriya Samachar Samiti (RSS) at Bharatpur Metropolitan City–10 today, the Minister, who also serves as the government spokesperson, said that capacity enhancement, training, experience sharing, and workshops are essential for strengthening journalism.
He expressed confidence that the RSS initiative would help fill an existing gap in this regard. The RSS has planned to develop the under-construction facility as an academic centre. The Minister also pledged government support for the procurement of materials required to operate the centre.
Construction of the facility began on May 22, 2023, said RSS Bharatpur office chief Narayan Prasad Adhikari.
The Urban and Building Construction Project, Bharatpur, has signed a contract worth Rs 57.6 million to implement the project.
The four-storey building, which will include an underground parking lot, will have 19 rooms. Meanwhile, Minister Kharel visited Om Megashree Pharmaceuticals Limited based in Jugedi of Bharatpur Metropolitan City–29.
During the inspection, he said he was happy to learn that the company produces around 50 types of medicines and that its production and supply processes meet all required protocols.
The Minister added that investing capital earned abroad within the country is a positive development.
Pharmaceutical company Chairperson Arjun Kumar Shrestha said he spent around 22 years in Europe gaining experience in the pharmaceutical sector before starting production in Nepal. According to him, the company has an investment of approximately Rs 1.5 billion.
