KATHMANDU: The Nepali Communist Party (NCP) and the Rastriya Mukti Party Nepal have merged officially on Wednesday.

At a special programme organised here Wednesday, NCP Coordinator, Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’, Joint Coordinator Madhav Kumar Nepal and senior Vice-Chairperson of Rastriya Mukti Party Nepal, Suman Sayami, signed the agreement paper.

Addressing the programme, Coordinator Dahal expressed the belief that the merger of Rastriya Mukti Party Nepal with NCP would make contribution in resolving people’s problems, specially in the Kathmandu Valley.

It is a positive sign that the leaders, who have been struggling in Kathmandu in favour of landless squatters, people living on the river banks, unorganized settlements and those suffering from socio-economic problems, joined the NCP, he added.

Similarly, Joint Coordinator Nepal argued that establishing the party as the centre of people’s hope and trust is a major challenge at present.

Likewise, senior Vice Chairperson of Rastriya Mukti Party Nepal Suman Sayami shared that they joined the NCP keeping the ideology, principle and people’s long-term welfare in centre. “We joined the NCP with a belief that only the NCP can work for people’s freedom,” he argued.

Former Prime Minister Jhala Nath Khanal, leaders- Bamdev Gautam, Rajendra Shrestha- among others were present on the occasion.
