KATHMANDU: Ramkumari Jhankri of Gulmi has been elected to the National Assembly from Lumbini Province, representing the CPN (UML) in the women’s category.
Jhakri secured 6,303 weighted votes, defeating her nearest rival, Durga Kumari Bhandari of the Nepali Communist Party, who received 1,362 votes.
Padma Pandit of Rastriya Janamorcha was also in the race.
Voting saw participation from 30 female and 48 male Provincial Assembly members. Of the 83 eligible assembly voters, five were absent, while nine out of 217 local unit voters did not cast ballots.
