NEPSE inches up by 1.53 points as turnover hits Rs 8.223 billion

KATHMANDU: Amidst fluctuations throughout the day, the Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) index increased by a slim margin today, Monday, the second trading day of the week.

While NEPSE decreased by 19.85 points yesterday (Sunday), it rose by 1.53 points on Monday. Standing at a 0.05 percent increase compared to the previous trading day, NEPSE settled at the 2,695.73 level.

The Sensitive Index, however, dropped by 0.75 points to fall to the 459.16 level. The Sensitive Index decreased by 0.16 percent compared to the previous trading day.

On Monday, 17,507,776 shares of 330 companies were bought and sold through 91,061 transactions on NEPSE. In this, a turnover of Rs 8.223 billion occurred on Monday. Yesterday (Sunday), a turnover of Rs 9.109 billion had taken place on NEPSE.

Out of the 13 groups traded on NEPSE today, the indices of five groups increased. The indices of the remaining eight groups decreased. Accordingly, the Commercial Bank group index decreased by 0.09 percent, while the Development Bank increased by 0.72 percent.

Similarly, while Finance decreased by 0.89 percent, Hotel and Tourism increased by 1.77 percent.

On Monday, the Hydropower group decreased by 0.13 percent, Investment by 0.19 percent, and Life Insurance by 0.35 percent on NEPSE.

In the same way, the Manufacturing and Processing group increased by 1.45 percent, while the Microfinance group decreased by 0.16 percent and Mutual Fund by 0.10 percent. Similarly, non-life insurance increased by 0.19 percent. The Others group decreased by 0.25 percent, while the Trading group increased by only 0.02 percent.

On NEPSE today, the prices of 114 companies increased while those of 135 companies decreased. The share prices of 13 companies remained stable.

In the fluctuating NEPSE on Monday, investors of SY Panel, Shreenagar Agritech Industries, and Himstar Urja Company earned 10 percent. That is, a positive circuit was triggered in the share prices of these three companies.

Similarly, the investors of Mithila Microfinance Financial Institution lost the most at 10 percent of their share price. Its final share price was maintained at Rs 1,399.

Today, the highest volume of share trading was for Ankhu Khola Hydropower, which had a turnover of Rs 414.9 million. On Sunday, share trading worth Rs 555.2 million had occurred for Ankhu Khola. Today, the final share price of Ankhu Khola was maintained at Rs 330 per share.
