KATHMANDU: German Ambassador Martin Volz recently visited Thapathali Campus, affiliated with Tribhuvan University.

Originally established in the 1960s as a vocational training centre with German support, Thapathali Campus has evolved over the decades into a full-fledged university campus and is now recognized as one of Nepal’s leading engineering institutions.

The training centre was jointly inaugurated in 1967 by King Mahendra and German President Heinrich Lübke during the latter’s state visit to Nepal. During his visit, the campus chief presented Ambassador Volz with a historic photograph from the inauguration ceremony.

During the campus tour, the Ambassador also viewed the original German machinery provided at the time-much of which remains in good working condition today.
