JUMLA: In the House of Representatives election scheduled for March 5, the Chandanath Polling Center in Jumla will be staffed entirely by women employees.
At the polling center located at Chandanath Secondary School in Khalanga Bazaar, the district headquarters, all election duties — including the Chief Polling Officer, Assistant Polling Officer, assistant staff, and office assistant — will be carried out by women employees.
Chief Election Officer Anand Raj Pant stated that the women staff are committed to conducting the election in a peaceful environment while fully complying with the Election Code of Conduct 2026.
He mentioned that the role of all stakeholders, including political parties and journalists, will be important for ensuring a peaceful, dignified, and well-managed election.
Chief District Officer Deepak Paudel also emphasized that the role of the mass media will be decisive and urged them to collect and disseminate information with positive messaging.
He said that the total number of voters in the district is 71,739 and that 654 personnel will be deployed for the election.
Each polling center will have one Chief Polling Officer, one Assistant Polling Officer, three assistant staff members, and one office assistant. According to Election Officer Dipendra Kandel, a total of 110 polling centers and 85 polling stations have been established across the district.
Targeting the election, voter education programs are being conducted in all 60 wards of the district’s eight local units. According to Hari Krishna Timilsena, Assistant to the Chief Election Officer, 77,000 ballot papers for the first-past-the-post category and 80,000 ballot papers for the proportional representation category have arrived in Jumla.
For election security, the Nepali Army, Nepal Police, Armed Police Force, and 974 election police personnel from the district will be deployed to ensure peace and security at polling centers. Additionally, 925 temporary voters have been registered in the district, and two temporary polling centers have been established.
With eight days remaining before the election, a one-day interaction and discussion program was organized today by the District Election Office Jumla to ensure strict compliance with the Election Code of Conduct.
Meanwhile, the Election Office has announced that training for Chief Polling Officers and Assistant Polling Officers will begin on February 27.
