DUBAI: Describing the attacks as retaliation for military strikes carried out by the United States and Israel, Iran has continued launching missiles and drones targeting neighboring Gulf nations, creating widespread disruption across the region’s oil industry, international aviation, and overall economy.
Strikes have been reported in the United Arab Emirates, Kuwait, Qatar, Bahrain, and other locations. In the UAE, falling missile debris near Zayed International Airport killed one person and injured seven others.
Explosions and smoke were reported in major Gulf cities, including Abu Dhabi, Dubai, and Doha. Local security authorities urged residents to remain in safe locations, and civil aviation routes were closed.
Experts say the sustained missile and drone attacks are significantly affecting the oil trade and aviation sector. Disruptions have occurred at some of the world’s busiest aviation hubs, impacting air services.
Meanwhile, tensions around key maritime oil transport routes, including the Strait of Hormuz, have heightened, leading to supply obstacles and rising oil prices.
