KATHMANDU:  Nepali Congress President Gagan Kumar Thapa has stated that the government must correct the mistakes made during the process of evacuating settlements.

Speaking at an honor ceremony organized by the Kathmandu Metropolitan City on Saturday, President Thapa pointed out that in some places, settlements were cleared without fulfilling prior commitments made to the local residents.

He emphasized that the government must rectify the shortcomings on its part.

He added that in a democracy, the government should not have the mindset that it will never alter its decisions.

Furthermore, he remarked that if citizens raise questions about government decisions, changing those decisions should not be treated as a matter of ego.

Thapa also urged the government to reconsider the issue regarding the removal of settlements around the Pashupati area.
