Voting begins for House of Representatives election

KATHMANDU: Voting for the House of Representatives Election 2082 has begun. The Election Commission (EC) Nepal said that polling started nationwide at 7 am today.

EC Spokesperson Narayan Prasad Bhattarai said, “Voting has begun nationwide from 7 am. We have already received reports that polling has started smoothly across the country.”

Voters will be allowed to cast their ballots until 5 pm today. The EC has stated that voters can cast their votes by presenting a voter identity card, citizenship certificate, national identity card, driving license, passport, or land ownership certificate.

There will be separate queues for male and female voters. Special provisions have been made so that persons with disabilities, the physically weak, senior citizens, the sick, new mothers, and pregnant women will not have to stand in line.

For the election, 23,112 polling centers have been set up at 10,967 polling locations across the country.

A total of 3,680 polling centers have been classified as highly sensitive. Likewise, 4,442 polling centers are categorized as sensitive, while 2,845 are considered normal.
