NEPSE sheds 32.08 points, trading volume reaches Rs 21.5 billion

While Reliance Spinning hits positive circuit, Ngadi Group Power investors earn the most

KATHMANDU: The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) index fell by 32.08 points on Tuesday. Compared to the previous trading day, the index declined by 1.11 percent, closing at 2,843.35 points.

The Sensitive Index also dropped by 4.40 points, settling at 489.69 points, which represents a 0.89 percent decline compared to the previous day.

On Tuesday, shares of 329 companies were traded 205,611 times, with 52,711,353 shares changing hands. The total trading turnover reached Rs 21.50 billion.

During the day’s trading, the share prices of 178 companies declined, while 78 companies recorded gains and five companies remained unchanged.

Among the 13 sectoral indices traded on NEPSE on Tuesday, three sectors gained, while the remaining 10 sectors declined.

The commercial bank sector index fell by 1.27 percent, development banks by 1.16 percent, finance companies by 2.06 percent, hotels and tourism by 1.85 percent, hydropower by 1.45 percent, and the investment sector by 1.48 percent.

Similarly, the life insurance sector increased by 0.51 percent, while the manufacturing and processing sector declined by 1.82 percent and the microfinance sector dropped by 0.17 percent. The mutual fund sector rose by 1.43 percent, and the non-life insurance sector increased by 0.47 percent. Meanwhile, the others sector fell by 1.40 percent, and the trading sector index dropped by 2.12 percent.

On Tuesday, the share price of Reliance Spinning Mills Limited hit the positive circuit, meaning its investors gained 10 percent in a single trading session. In contrast, investors of Himstar Energy Company Limited suffered the biggest loss, with its share price dropping by 6.36 percent.

In terms of transaction value, Ngadi Group Power Limited recorded the highest turnover of the day, with shares worth Rs 1.09 billion traded. Likewise, in terms of number of shares traded, Ngadi Group Power also topped the list, with 2,409,989 shares bought and sold.
