RSP announces central committee results; Wagle tops open tier as women sweep Karnali

CHITWAN: The Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) has begun releasing final results from its first general convention, using 80 electronic voting machines to decide 99 central committee seats.

In the highly competitive Open Category, Swarnim Wagle led the pack with 2,607 votes, alongside top-tier leaders Sobita Gautam (2,594), Shisir Khanal (2,495), Manish Jha (2,237), Toshima Karki (2,257), and Biraj Bhakta Shrestha (2,094).

Provincial battles also saw definitive outcomes.

For Gandaki Province, lawmaker Manish Khanal topped the pool with 1,012 votes, followed closely by nurse Pabitra Thapa with 1,004 votes.

In the Koshi Province cluster, Nisha Mehta secured a landslide victory with 1,861 votes, leading a group of winners that includes Bishwa Raj Pokharel, Shobha Karki, and Kalpana Thapa.

Meanwhile, Karnali Province saw a powerful sweep by three women leaders: Tashi Sherpa, former MP Binita Kathayat, and current Minister for Women, Children, and Senior Citizens, Sita Badi.

Election officials are now preparing to tally diaspora votes to finalize the remaining leadership seats.
