KATHMANDU: The (UML) has condemned the arrest of former Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli and former Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak, calling it contrary to democratic values and the rule of law.

Speaking after today’s secretariat meeting, General Secretary Shankar Pokharel said the party has decided to demand their immediate release.

He added that UML has opposed the inquiry commission led by Gauri Bahadur Karki from the beginning, describing its report as biased, vindictive, and inconsistent with principles of judicial investigation.

The party also called for the formation of a high-level investigation committee, headed by a sitting Supreme Court justice, to probe the events of September 08-09, 2025.
