KATHMANDU: The government has decided to form a high-level, empowered investigation committee to probe the assets of political office-bearers and government officials.
According to the Prime Minister’s Office, the committee will be constituted within 15 days. It will be mandated to investigate the property holdings of both politicians and civil servants.
The decision outlines a phased approach to the investigation. In the first phase, the committee will examine assets accumulated after the 2006 People’s Movement. In the second phase, it will extend to assets acquired since 1991.
