KATHMANDU: The central secretariat meeting of Communist Party of Nepal (Unified Marxist–Leninist) is scheduled to take place today at the party’s central office in Chyasal, Lalitpur, starting at 1 pm.

The meeting is expected to focus primarily on the statement delivered on Thursday in the House of Representatives by parliamentary party leader and party acting chair Ram Bahadur Thapa.

His remarks have triggered significant discussion and concern within the party. Party vice-chair Bishnu Prasad Paudel has stated that Thapa’s expression went against the party’s established policies and principles, adding that the issue will be seriously discussed in the secretariat meeting.

Taking to social media on Thursday, Paudel clarified that the views expressed by Thapa in his capacity as parliamentary leader do not represent the party’s official stance.

In addition to reviewing Thapa’s recent political position and statements, the meeting will also deliberate on other contemporary political issues and the party’s internal action plan.

With Thapa facing criticism from the party leadership for deviating from official policy lines, today’s meeting is being viewed as particularly significant.
