NEPSE declines by single digit, turnover falls to Rs 6 billion

KATHMANDU: The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) declined by 2.61 points on Tuesday, the third trading day of the week. Compared to the previous day, the transaction volume also decreased. The NEPSE index fell by 0.09 percent compared to the previous trading day, closing at 2,757.40 points.

On this day, the Sensitive Index also dropped by 0.78 points to settle at 471.13 points. In terms of percentage, this is 0.16 percent lower than the previous trading day. Similarly, the float index decreased by 0.14 percent, and the sensitive float index declined by 0.20 percent.

In the stock market on Tuesday, at least 1,746,616 unit shares of 345 companies were traded through 81,582 transactions. Accordingly, a turnover of Rs 6.737 billion was recorded on Tuesday. In contrast, a turnover of Rs 12.38 billion was recorded on Sunday and Rs 10.928 billion on Monday.

Out of the 13 sectors traded on NEPSE today, the sub-indices of four sectors increased while those of the remaining nine sectors declined. Accordingly, the commercial bank group’s index rose by 0.04 percent on Tuesday. The Development Bank index decreased by 0.62 percent and the finance group index by 0.41 percent. Similarly, the hotel and tourism sub-index rose by 1.08 percent and the hydropower group sub-index by 0.15 percent.

Furthermore, the Investment group sub-index fell by 0.46 percent, Life Insurance by 0.45 percent, the Manufacturing and Processing group by 0.05 percent, Microfinance by 0.19 percent, Mutual Fund by 0.55 percent, and the Non-Life Insurance group index by 0.33 percent. Additionally, while the other group index rose by 0.71 percent, the Trading group sub-index fell by 1.88 percent.

On Tuesday, the share prices of three companies hit the positive circuit breaker on NEPSE. Those hitting the positive circuit include Bhujung Hydropower, Super Khudi Hydropower, and Swet Ganga Hydropower. This means investors in these three companies earned 10 percent.

On the other hand, investors in NIBL Growth Fund faced a loss of 7.08 percent.

In terms of turnover amount, Ngadi Group Power remained at the forefront. Today, a turnover of Rs 242.2 million was recorded for Ngadi Group Power.

Similarly, in terms of the number of shares traded, National Hydropower Company was the leader today. At least 843,664 unit shares of National Hydropower were bought and sold on Tuesday. The final trading price of National Hydropower was maintained at Rs 276 per unit.
