KATHMANDU: On the first trading day of the week, Monday, the Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) declined by double digits. Today, NEPSE fell by 13.17 points to settle at the 2,825.23 mark. This is 0.46 percent lower than the previous trading day.
The Sensitive Index also decreased by 3.21 points today, stopping at 473.71 points. In percentage terms, this is 0.67 percent less than the previous trading day. Similarly, the float index declined by 0.62 percent and the sensitive float index by 0.76 percent.
In the share market today, at least 116,503,370 unit shares of 349 companies were traded through 116,310 transactions. Accordingly, a turnover of Rs 5.434 billion was recorded on Monday.
The share prices of 65 companies increased in the share market today. While the share prices of 197 companies declined, six companies saw their share prices remain stable. Out of the 13 sectors traded on NEPSE today, all groups ended in the red except for the Hotel and Tourism group index, which rose by 1.01 percent.
Specifically, on Monday, the Commercial Bank group index fell by 0.84 percent, the Development Bank by 0.16 percent, and Finance by 0.70 percent. While the Hotel and Tourism group index rose by 1.01 percent, the Hydropower index fell by 0.23 percent, the Investment group by 0.84 percent, and Life Insurance by 0.62 percent.
Furthermore, the sub-indices for Manufacturing and Processing fell by 0.84 percent, Microfinance by 0.49 percent, Mutual Funds by 0.08 percent, Non-Life Insurance by 0.11 percent, Others by 0.40 percent, and the Trading group by 0.33 percent.
On Monday, the share prices of Suryakunda Hydro Electric and Hotel Forest Inn increased by 15 percent on NEPSE. Conversely, the share price of Dolti Power Company fell by 5.35 percent.
In terms of turnover amount, Hotel Forest Inn remained at the forefront. Today, a turnover of Rs 360.1 million was recorded for Hotel Forest Inn.
Similarly, in terms of the number of shares traded, National Hydropower Company was the leader today. At least 938,127 unit shares of National Hydropower were bought and sold on Monday. Its final trading price was maintained at Rs 306 per unit.
