KATHMANDU: The Nepali Communist Party has announced it will hold its unity national general convention from November 27 to December 1, 2026, in Kathmandu.

Following a meeting chaired by coordinator Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda,’ the party outlined an aggressive organizational timeline that begins with a membership drive ending August 16.

This will be followed by a series of local and provincial conventions running from late August through November to prepare for the national gathering. Spokesperson Prakash Jwala stated that all party structures and affiliated fronts must be fully integrated by June 14.

The party has introduced a landmark policy to ensure 50 percent youth representation across all committees, emphasizing a blend of veteran experience and new leadership.

To oversee these changes, a Party Statute Recommendation Task Force composed of senior leaders and legal experts, including Dev Prasad Gurung and Rekha Sharma, has been formed to align the party’s governing documents with its unified vision.

The decision follows a month-long coordination meeting that concluded on April 27, where leaders also resolved to finalize the central working committee under the party’s 2026 interim statute.

By implementing proportional and inclusive principles at every level, the party aims to complete its internal unification process well before the November convention.
