WASHINGTON: US President Donald Trump has announced a naval operation, dubbed Project Freedom, to escort stranded ships out of the Strait of Hormuz, with operations set to begin in the coming hours.
In response, senior Iranian lawmaker Ebrahim Azizi warned that any US interference in the strait would be considered a violation of the ceasefire.
Meanwhile, Iran’s Foreign Ministry said it is assessing Washington’s response to its latest 14-point proposal aimed at ending the war, after Trump previously described Tehran’s proposal as “unacceptable.”
At the same time, Israel has continued its bombardment of Lebanon, wounding five medics, and has expanded its area of control in Gaza by announcing a so-called “Orange Line.”
